The last prejudice

Seems like remarks to people who are overweight are the last bastion of prejudice.  Well meaning people have said that my back issues were all weight related and my OBGYN asked if I was exercising at all with a rather hopeless tone in her voice today that really got to me..then I saw myself in the mirror at the gym in a particularly unflattering position and just wanted to kneel over.  Not in the most positive frame of mind and its showing up in my eating.  I just have to remember that I am more than my weight.  Hope others are having a better day than me.

People can be so inconsiderate sometimes. But don’t let them ruin your resolve. This is your life - take control for you! You deserve it.

I’m only trying to lose because of the health benefits. years ago, my hubby told me i am beautiful and when i did loose some weight a while back he said i was getting too thin. i’m the only other person i need to impress.

surround yourself with people you love and who love you in return.

remember the VELVETEEN RABBIT? “real isn’t h0w you are made,” said the skin horse. “it’s a thing that happens to you when a child loves you for a long long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become real.”

“does it hurt?” asked the rabbit.

“sometimes,” said the skin horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are real, you don’t mind being hurt.”

“does it happen all at once, like being wound up?” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“it doesn’t happen all at once. you become. it takes a long time. that’s why it doesn’t often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. generally by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. but these things don’t matter at all, because once you are real, you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

    hang in there hun
    peace

You’re damned right you are more than your weight, a lot more.

The fact that you recognize how insensitive those comments are tells me that you are a kind, feeling individual who deserves nothing less than to be treated with absolute respect.
